In 1900, the German engineer Hermann Pfauter patented the hobbing process for gear manufacturing, laying the foundation for his entrepreneurial career. He founded a gear machine tool manufacturing plant in Chemnitz, and its products gained wide popularity in European and American markets. In 1951, after World War II, the former Pfauter factory was restructured into VEB Zahnschneidemaschinenfabrik Modul, and the brand name MODUL has been used ever since. For more than a century, MODUL has been one of Germany’s most distinguished manufacturers of gear machine tools.
